    Investment Banking Summer Internship Program


    Citizens Bank is seeking Investment Banking Summer Analysts to join the Capital Markets & Advisory (“CM&A”) team. Through a 10-week internship program, Summer Analysts will work closely with the team’s junior and senior professionals preparing, analyzing, and executing banking related transactions, primarily within the U.S. middle market. 


    Our internship program is the primary method of sourcing full-time Investment Banking Analyst candidates. Over the course of the 10-week program, Summer Analysts are assigned to active and prospective engagement teams. Summer Analysts will also gain exposure to the true day-to-day responsibilities of an investment banker and will have the opportunity to grow professionally in a fast-paced environment. 


    Opportunities Overview


    Within CM&A, there are three paths for Summer Analysts, each requiring unique skillsets and responsibilities in addition to those noted below. 

    1. Corporate Finance: Team focuses on the origination of business in specific industry sectors and works closely with the M&A and DCM teams to execute business. Full-time Analysts are aligned with sectors including Aerospace, Defense & Government Services; Communications; Gaming, Lodging & Leisure; Business Services; Transportation & Logistics; Healthcare; Engineering, Construction & Industrial Services; Industrial Equipment & Distribution; Basic Materials; and Financial Services & Technology. Opportunities exist in Boston, MA, Charlotte, NC, New York, NY, San Francisco, CA.
    2. Debt Capital Markets (“DCM”): Team focuses on the origination, structuring and execution of bank and bond transactions for corporate and sponsor companies. Focus is on middle market leveraged credits with a deep penetration into the sponsor community supporting LBOs. Full time Analysts are generalists who are pooled for their first year and receive greater sector alignment in their 3rd year (if not already promoted to Associate). Opportunities exist in Boston, MA
    3. Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”): Team focuses on all aspects of the sell-side and buy-side process for corporate and sponsor clients. Full-time Analysts are aligned with sectors. Opportunities exist in Atlanta, GA (Business Services; Software; Healthcare; Tech Services; Aerospace, Defense & Government Services), Cleveland, OH (Industrials; Consumer; Gaming), Los Angeles, CA (Consumer & Restaurants) and New York, NY (Internet Infrastructure). 


    Responsibilities


    Shared responsibilities across all CM&A functions include but are not limited to: 

    • Supporting team members in developing new business ideas, pitch strategies, or transaction structuring scenarios (inclusive of equity, debt and/or M&A) to help the firm’s corporate and sponsor clients achieve their financial and strategic objectives.
    • Analyzing financials, comparable companies and transactions and modeling: analyze financial statement trends, prepare public company and transaction comparable analyses, develop leveraged buyout and financing models and other analyses as needed. 
    • Preparing information memoranda and other transaction documents: draft key marketing and key transaction related documents. 
    • Preparing pitch/business origination materials and other presentations: develop and assemble pitches and other presentations and be an integral part of the team in delivering these presentations.


    Qualifications


    • Successfully complete a video interview assessment within 7 days of receiving the link. If not completed within the timeframe, your application will be automatically withdrawn from consideration.
    • Current students enrolled in an undergraduate bachelor’s program, graduating between Winter 2025 – Spring 2026
    • Minimum GPA of 3.2; Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.5
    • Relevant work experience, leadership experience or coursework in Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred but all majors will be considered. 
    • Strong analytical skills and software skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency is required.
    • Candidates must currently be a U.S. Resident to be eligible for this program.
    • Please note that U.S. Immigration sponsorship or work visa is not available for intern / full time Analyst positions and candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S


    Pay Transparency

    This position offers $41/hr as a hourly rate. Since this a temporary position, you are not eligible to participate in the Citizens colleague benefits program. Accordingly, you will not be eligible to participate in the Citizens health and welfare plans, savings and investment plans, or discretionary award plans or any other Citizens benefit plans or programs, except as otherwise required by law.
