We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Associate to join our investment team with an immediate start date. As an Associate, you will play a critical role in identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and supporting our portfolio companies.

Note: This role will be based out of our Austin, TX office. You must reside in, or be willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct market research and due diligence on potential investments
• Search proactively for top investment opportunities, including discovering and meeting entrepreneurs who have founded businesses in which Moonshots Capital may be interested in investing. This includes networking in the Austin technology ecosystem and spending time (3-4 days a week) at our offices located in the Capital Factory
• Provide assistance with our portfolio companies, including financial analysis and research reports as requested
• Assist our back-office team with Investor reporting including: the collection of data, creation of reports, valuation analyses and written communications
• Execute independent projects offering value to Moonshots Capital on a case-by-case basis
• Assist in the development of internal communications and thought leadership around investment activity and areas of focus
• Build external relationships with investors and entrepreneurs

Requirements

• Demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship or start-ups
• Passionate about the startup ecosystem with a strong desire to learn the VC business (Dual use/DoD operating experience and working in the ecosystem is a plus)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and seek input from others when needed
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build rapport with founders/investors/industry leaders, and impart key insights clearly and efficiently
• Excellent execution, project management, and time management skills
• Ability to lead, manage, and mentor junior team members to include fellows and interns
• Experience with Project Management Software (Slack/SharePoint), Portfolio Software (Carta), and CRM software (Mailchimp/Affinity) and AirTable
• At least 3 - 4 years of relevant work experience and a bachelor's degree (MBA degree is a plus)
• Must be able to work out of our Austin office at least 3 days per week
