Investment Associate
The Investment Associate will actively engage with the Foreground Capital team on all investment and fund-related activities, including deal sourcing, pipeline management, due diligence, deal execution, ongoing management of portfolio companies, exit strategies, and investor relations. The Investment Associate will work closely with all team members but will primarily report to Elizabeth Bailey, Managing Partner of Foreground Capital, as the position is based in Boston.

Responsibilities:
The Investment Associate should apply sound, independent judgment and discretion to handle a broad range of venture fund activities and management responsibilities that include:
- Assist in sourcing and evaluating potential investment opportunities in the women's health sector
- Maintain an up-to-date pipeline database of investments, including periodic analysis of financing trends in women’s health
- Build relationships with peer investors to strengthen the pipeline and identify co-investing opportunities
- Support due diligence of high-potential opportunities, including identifying and working with outside consultants/experts, conducting market research, and running financial models to assess potential returns
- Evaluate opportunities and present clear, analytically driven recommendations to the team
- Assist the team in preparing written due diligence materials (e.g., investment briefs, investment memos, etc.)
- Provide support for the management of the Investment Advisory Committee
- Support and manage parts of deal execution, including communication with co-investors, preparation of SPV documents, etc.
- Assist with data collection, analysis and summarizing of Annual Impact Report
- Engage with portfolio companies and help drive their success, including planning and managing webinars, retreats and other events as necessary
- Support investor relations activities (including annual Limited Partner meetings and other types of convenings)
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Participate in periodic fundraising activities with current and prospective LPs, including research, data analysis, data room management, and investor follow-up
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated passion and interest in women’s health and innovation
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent and/or science graduate degree (including MS, PhD) strongly preferred; a minimum of 3-5+ years of relevant investment work experience
- Familiar and adept with financial tools and frameworks to analyze the health and potential of early-stage businesses and technologies
- Strong analytical skills – both quantitative and qualitative
- Demonstrated experience working in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, or similar environments, evaluating investment opportunities
- A clear understanding of the healthcare ecosystem in the United States – clinical/medical, reimbursement, and insurance systems
- Ability to prioritize activities and commitments based on strategic understanding
- Effective in building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Dedicated team player committed to collaboration
- Clear thinking and influential communication in both written and oral form
- Able to build trust and drive results with entrepreneurs, partners, investors and other stakeholders
- Willing to seek help and embrace personal development goals

Preferred Qualifications
- Academic or work experience in scientific fields related to medical devices and/or bio/pharmaceutical
